There is nothing like having a day that is wide open - the possibilities are endless - and today was just such a day. -Ron started the day by picking up our new summer toys, bright yellow kayaks, and then the whole family headed for the lake. What followed was glorious!! Time on the water, snacks, enjoying the breeze under the pavilion, swimming, water gun fights, laughter and general mayhem. After dropping the water gear off and a quick shower, we all proceeded to the next stop: the in-laws' house for a cookout, games, and more mayhem. I even had the privilege of enjoying my favorite summer thing... roasted marshmallows! G-Daddy fired up the chiminea in the midst of some thunder and lightning so I could catch the fluffy balls of happiness on fire, totally torch them, blow them out and YUMMMMM!!!!!!!!!!! Oh the pleasures of life!
Now to get some sleep, because we may do it all again tomorrow (which is, by the way, WIDE OPEN!!)

Time Flies
So I really wanted to post often - and then life took over. Where did five months go? They seem lost in a blur of teaching, church, programs, dogs, friends, family.... all in all, not a bad way to lose track of time! JC and I are facing three more weeks of school, then -ron and I are off to our mission project. Exciting! I am so ready for summer this year!
I learned a new skill today - cracking steamed spiced crabs. Jimmies, actually. Ugh... next time just give me some big legs and let it go at that. I kinda lost my appetite for the good meat after having to pop off the eyes and dig out the intestines. Reminded me of a meal we were served at the Independence Bowl back in 1995. Crawdads, corn, and potatoes served in a cardboard box. No napkins. No silverware. No real beverages. Just instructions to "suck the heads"... We went VERY hungry that night. Tonight I managed to supplement the grossness with yogurt, fruit, and Oreo Cakesters.
Tomorrow I learn to kayak. That should be a good story. :)
